Negative Space inspiration

Making the transitions between the world of Sally, David and Aaron is not simple. Sally's world is full of line and very much set in a recognisable environment of the London Underground. I am interested in David's perception of negative and positive space being equal partners.

In terms of answering the research question..

In what ways can 3D animation, combined with virtual reality, be used to replicate abstract interpretations of blindness and provide a new film language for artists with sight-loss, I've been reviewing examples of negative space drawings, by sighted artists. David's descriptions of navigating and understanding space is more abstract than the other artists, perhaps because he, of the three participants, has no light or shape awareness at all. I am inspired by the way he describes negative and positive spaces as being equal and it reminded me of Escher's drawings. Upon research negative space drawings I found the negative art graphics of Tang Yau Hoong http://tangyauhoong.com/portfolio/the-art-of-negative-space/.

Very inspiring and I can envisage how David's world can be a negative space, situated between the positive spaces of Sally and David.
