Hue Saturation tool @2:18 eyedropper select. Adjustment layer and masks to apply on top of layers. To adjust colours and values
Blending modes @4:27 - also lasso select and set to normal. Apply adjustment layer
Transform tool and perspective grid @5:11
Masks lasso tool erase (black) to reappear (white) @6:27. Tool presets for brushes.
Press Alt key and hover pen above tablet to turn lasso into organic non-straight lasso tool.
Link/unlink tool moves layer and mask independently
Gradient tool to add depth @8:52 Transparency setting at approx 30%
Tool presets @11:16 easy access to pre-set brushes. Un-tick include colour
Match colour @8:59 Place image colours to be referenced from. Image >Adjustments>Match Colour
Colour dodge @ 11:52. Soft airbrush, then type - brush blending mode colour dodge. Creates blown highlights. Set at 30% opacity
Come up with mood plan, for how I want the viewer to feel when looking at the image. e.g neon, seedy, full of life
Start with 3000 x 3000 pixels - resolution 72
Low horizon or high not centred
Indicate perspective - very rough
Dark values in foreground
Use lasso tool to rough in crisp shapes
Use thirds
Select focal point and use shapes, with a light value in that area
Gradient tool to shade in highlight light bloom
Use navigator panel
Sketch quickly
Lasso tool shapes and use radial gradient tool to silhouette objects and pull them away from the background
Crop
Preserve image (image size) preserve details. Increase image resolution to 300 change to inches - to get ready for print
Merge layers
Hash out perspective grid - mirror
Place over concept sketch
Scale
Place reference image over
Line up vanishing points
Bring in vertical ruler to make sure straight
Select blending modes for new layer. Select which ones.
Find reference e.g bladerunner night cyber punk and paste over the top
Take base thumbnail and match colour
Use hue saturation tool and slide and see for happy accidents - mask out areas. Don't put in too much
Bring in more references. Transform tool to shape and scale to perspective
Go for it. Happy accidents
Contrast foreground midground background - otherwise image becomes flat.
Google sunsets and layover
Further distance more light polution
Heads of people level with horizon - as if picture taken at ground level
Eyedropper for rim light
For reflection - flatten layers, reflect, motion blur in filter tab, blending mode lighten and then mask it in for quick reflections on the ground
Add detail, paint over top of photo ref to remove feeling of photo. Eyedropper sample from the rest of the image and take various light sources and add to objects
Visually captivating area foreground right and background left
